The Turnaround King – Ray Shoemaker

Ray Shoemaker, founder of Rural Healthcare Developers, has enjoyed success at local and national levels in his innovative approach to healthcare and his effective development of healthcare institutions and solutions. His rise has been a quick one, starting with employment as the director of Behavioral Health Perspectives/Horizons Mental Health Management in a local Mississippi healthcare center. Following his successful stint in this role, he was enlisted to start a behavioral health program at the Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Having set up a geri-health unit within one month, Ray Shoemaker saw his program quickly expand to 22 beds and within 2 years the new Behavioral Health Center had added three separate behavioral health units. Following this success he rose to Chief Operating Officer and eventually to Chief Executive Officer of the Tri-Lakes Medical Center. During this period, revenue within the center nearly tripled from $23 million to $64 million.

Rural Healthcare Developers is the latest path for Ray Shoemaker, having recognized the need for rural healthcare centers as well as in cities. It was while growing up in Walnut Grove that Ray first recognized the need for quality healthcare in rural regions and through Rural Healthcare Developers he is able to help offer and promote exactly that. And what does Ray Shoemaker attribute his success to? His time in the army, having been promoted to the rank of Captain in the United States Army where Ray learned the value of leadership; something he has put into practice throughout his illustrious career.
